Meet Nastja from ZARIĆ Jewellery
Name, pronouns and star sign?
Nastja Zarić, She/ Her, Aries.
Where did you grow up, and where do you live now?
I was born in Ljubljana, then moved to the northern beaches of Sydney, and eventually my family settled in Canberra. I live locally in Melbourne (Naarm) now.
How did you discover jewellery making and when did you start to take it seriously?
Growing up as a kid my mother was a jewellery designer and my father a ceramic potter, so the building blocks were a part of my upbringing. I was about twenty-one when I started to seriously consider my desire to start an ongoing project, and learning to craft with my own techniques.
How has ZARIĆ enabled you to find your creative voice?
My studio practice can be a substantial funnel for creative communication. The process allows me to access a rhythm and internal conversation which is very special and important to me. It reminds me to not be afraid to play and confidently experiment in life.
How do you find inspiration and motivation despite the pandemic?
This is tough because for most people inspiration needs to be backed with energy and acceleration to be productive. Collectively, we are struggling but I find that trying new things does wonders for inspiration; you've got to keep the body and mind fluid.
Via Welluvia, inspired by the 1973 film ‘Belladonna of Sadness’.
Your brother Aleks helps you with your amazing music mixes; what is your professional and personal relationship like?
Yes haha, Aleks has made some wonderful soundscapes and musical journeys for the brand – they can be found on his Soundcloud @Aleksandr Zaric – including the mix we just released for Error404 ;-)
As anyone could tell you, working with your sibling is no easy feat.. but it’s been fantastic having him on board as a photographer, as well as consulting on marketing and forecasting.

The future is a thought that brings me both excitement and anxiety. I’m focusing on staying present, not making plans outside a steady but consistent evolution. This is new for me but I'm reaping the benefits
